Ruben Dias says he is one of a collective group of leaders in the City dressing room as the Club prepares for our Champions League opener at home to Porto tomorrow night.

The Portuguese central defender has made a big impact despite only moving to City from Benfica at the end of September.

Manager Pep Guardiola has already praised the 23-year-old’s leadership attributes and some have tipped Dias as a potential future captain.

But asked about his leadership qualities at our pre-match press conference ahead of the Group C visit of Porto, Dias pointed to the collective mindset of the City players.

“On the matter of leadership, I have always considered in a team that every single player needs to be a leader of himself,” Dias declared as he looked ahead to the Porto clash.

“There is a leader of the team but first of all you need to be a leader of yourself.

“I have worked my entire life to be a leader of myself, to discipline myself, to work to where I want to be. Everything else comes naturally with my personality.

“The team received me very well and I will keep working the way I am. The rest will come naturally.”
