Ruben Dias says Phil Foden is destined for success due to his exemplary attitude, which the Portuguese defender believes is one of the youngster’s best attributes.

Foden is currently in the best form of his fledging Manchester City career, scoring 14 goals and providing nine assists in a season in which he has delivered numerous eye-catching performances.

The Academy graduate’s ability is obvious, but Dias feels his mindset is an equally important talent as he hailed the 20-year-old’s drive to succeed.

“He is a special talent,” said Dias ahead of Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against Tottenham Hotspur.

“As you know, as everybody knows, you can see it, he breathes football. On top of it all, for me, I would say one of the most fantastic attributes he has is the way he is.

“He has been here with the first-team for three years now and he has been playing, but sometimes he just goes back to zero again, like a restart. He does it so well.

“He is always driven and you never see him going down like ‘this isn’t going well for me’ or ‘I have this problem or that problem’.

“He knows very well what he is going for and when you have a player with this quality and with this mindset, it is very difficult not be successful.”
