Ruben Dias has described Manchester City as the perfect place to be in the wake of signing his new long-term contract.

The Portuguese central defensive talisman has signed a four-year deal, one that will extend his stay at the Etihad through to the summer of 2029.

Ever since joining Pep Guardiola’s squad from Benfica in the summer of 2020, Dias has established himself as one of the key figures in the City set-up.

In the ensuing five seasons to date, Dias has gone to help the Club to win nine major trophies, a haul which includes four Premier League titles, the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World along with the FA Cup and League Cup.

And in a special interview to mark his new contract, the 28-year-old earmarked how Guardiola’s City and Manchester itself was the ideal the environment for him to thrive - both from a football and personal perspective

“For me here it’s perfect conditions - there’s nothing else I could want from football in terms of a place to be,” Dias outlined.

“I feel at home - at the end of the day we are travelling and playing games, and we just don’t stop the whole year, so Manchester feels like peace and most of all, that’s the feeling I enjoy.

“When I come here, I feel like I’m home and I feel like I can rest my mind. And if one place can give you that, what more could you want from it?

“It is a fact I believe that you can always be happy anywhere, so long as you are happy at work and Manchester became a little bit of all these feelings even though I don’t have my sea or don’t always have my sun.

“Even though I do believe that is changing - I think the sun is coming slowly but surely!”
