As part of our Black History Month celebrations, we look back on the best goals Shaun Goater scored for City.

The Bermudan striker joined the Club in 1998 and was a key part of our resurgence as we went from the third tier back to the Premier League.

In total, he scored 103 goals in 212 appearances and became a cult hero during his five and a half seasons at Maine Road.

In his first full campaign at City, Goater hit 21 goals as we went up in the most dramatic fashion through the play-offs.

The following year he was our most prolific player for a second year running, with 29 goals as we sealed back-to-back promotions.

A difficult year in the top flight followed but Goater and City were flying again in 2001/02 as he plundered 32 goals across all competitions.

2002/03 proved to be his final year at City as we settled well into the Premier League, with two goals in the final Manchester derby at Maine Road cementing his place in club folklore.

Now the former striker is working with the Club again, as part of Gareth Taylor‘s staff for our women’s side.

When spotted by City fans young and old, his famous chant ‘Feed the Goat and he will score’ still rings out loudly.
