Pep Guardiola says Kyle Walker has been an incredible signing for Manchester City.

On the eve of the England defender possibly making his 100th Premier League appearance against his boyhood heroes Sheffield United, Pep has heaped praise on Walker who has started the season in superb form.

“It was an incredible signing for Man City,” said Guardiola.

“I want to thank the club for bringing him here.

“Today top players are the ones who can play every three days. Before you sign a player, you have to look at his ability to play and play and play - the regeneration capability.

“Kyle is an example of that. I have a feeling this is the Kyle we have seen.

“He is one of our captains. He is so important in the locker room.

“In the last game against Marseille, he had a really good game and hopefully he can tomorrow, too.”

The City boss also revealed that players have to motivate themselves as well when the schedule is so packed.

He says motivation is not an issue with matches every three or four days, explaining: “With this amount of games, if the manager has to motivate, it’s over!

“It comes from inside, the desire to play good and help the team. The want to feel like a decisive player.

“It comes from inside the player himself. I cannot make a speech every three days to motivate.

“They like to play and be part of Premier League and Champions League. This is the most important thing.

“When you have talented players, this is the most unpredictable thing for the opponent.

“We have been together a long time and they understand what we want.

“And the new ones step by step will get it. But it’s not exclusive to Manchester City. “
