Raheem Sterling scored the only goal of the game as City edged the Saints in a hard-fought contest to return to winning ways after two consecutive draws.

Sterling calmly converted from 12-yards after he was expertly picked out by Kevin De Bruyne’s ball across goal in the 16th minute in a game where both sides had plenty of chances.
Bernardo Silva spurned a golden opportunity to make it 2-0 after another brilliant pass from De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan was denied a superb goal when Alex McCarthy tipped his 20-yard effort over the bar.
Ederson made a couple of smart saves from Theo Walcott and Jannik Verstergaard, whilst Southampton saw penalty appeals rejected by VAR after a cross bounced into Sterling’s arm in the second half.
