The 27-year-old has committed his future to the Club until 2026, which will bring about a decade of stellar service at the Etihad Stadium.
Stones joined City during Pep Guardiola’s first summer as manager, as the Catalan aimed to integrate the promising 22-year-old into his new regime.
Despite occasional niggling injuries frustrating that progress, the Yorkshireman has since won every domestic honour and, after embarking on his finest Premier League season to date, was even named in the 2020-21 PFA Team of the Year.
And Stones referenced the faith that Guardiola and his backroom team have afforded him as an essential reason as to why prolonging his stay was an ‘easy decision’.
“(They were) huge. I think everyone, coaching staff, all the other staff that are here, from day one made me feel so welcome,” Stones beamed after agreeing to extend his stay at City.
“Everyone plays a major part in our success as players. I appreciate what everyone does for me here as a person.
“It is hard to say, but they have had a big impact on me and it was an easy decision for me to put pen to paper again.
“I feel like this is home and I absolutely love the place.”
