John Stones spoke emotionally about the moment he heard the fans chanting his name as he went to collect his Premier League winners medal.

‘Johnny, Johnny Stones’ echoed around the Etihad as our defender-cum-midfielder’s name was read out ahead of his walk to the Premier League podium.

It touched Stones – and his family – and was something he’ll never forget.

He told us: “It was so special – something that will live with me forever.

“The fans singing the song when I was walking up to get my medal, honestly it touched my heart and it touched my family’s heart.

“I can’t thank them enough. I am just so glad we could share it with everyone in the stadium today.”

Stones now has eyes on two more trophies – the FA Cup and Champions League – to add to the Premier League he held aloft this afternoon.

He says it’s full steam ahead with preparations for those two against Man Utd and Inter – as well as the remaining couple of top-flight games at Brighton and Brentford.

He added: “We are back in training tomorrow afternoon and we go from there.

“We have to keep the rhythm. The hunger is there and we know what’s ahead of us now.

“We can try and make some more history.”
