This week, to mark Tony Book’s 90th birthday, we’ve had a range of former players in our studio to discuss the impact and legacy of ‘Skip’.

And the verdict is unanimous – he’s an icon, he’s an inspiration, he’s Mr Manchester City.

Book is a living legend at City, having played and managed at the very highest level as well as offering his services to the club he loves in a range of other roles.

He starred on the pitch from 1966 to 1974, winning the League Championship, FA Cup, League Cup and European Cup Winners Cup before triumphing in the dugout as boss in the League Cup, becoming in the process the first man to win that trophy as both player and manager.

Book then went on to manage the City youth team and brought through a plethora of talented starlets as well as winning the FA Youth Cup in 1986.

He’s now City’s Honorary President and Life President of our Official Supporters Club.

To celebrate becoming a nonagenarian, Joe Corrigan, Alex Williams, Ian Brightwell and David White all offered their thoughts on a man they hold in the highest esteem.
