While defeat to Chelsea under the Wembley arch put an end to our FA Cup dream, Aymeric Laporte’s late header against Tottenham eight days later ensured our grip on the Carabao Cup remained as tight as ever.
Our eighth triumph saw us move level with Liverpool as the most successful side in the competition’s history and the occasion was made even more poignant by the 2,000 City supporters in attendance for the first time since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In total, Pep Guardiola’s men won nine of our ten cup matches, finding the back of the net on 23 occasions and conceding just five times.
