This month, CITC spoke with Charlie, a participant on City Careers.
Before joining the programme, Charlie faced challenges with low confidence and had a lack of clear direction for his future.
However, after completing the course, he has now become much more confident within himself and in his skills.
Charlie sat down with CITC and discussed how the programme helped him be set up for the future, saying: “My time on the course has been great.
“Meeting new people, speaking to people from the club from a variety of roles has helped me learn so many things that I probably wouldn’t have otherwise.”
“The CITC coaches helped me develop my skills and helped me in ways that they don’t even know.”
“Before I started the programme, I was quite timid and shut off. The programme has helped with my confidence immensely.”
“It has really put into perspective what I am capable of.”
City Careers is a free programme which aims to help young people aged 16-25 into employment, education or training.
Which both physical and mental well-being at the core, it gives participants the opportunity to holistically develop and upskill their employability and interpersonal skills.
Over the duration on the course, participants work with CITC staff and external partners on a series of employment workshops, developing skills such as CV and cover letter writing, and interview practice.
During the 2024/25 season, the course worked with 46 unique participants, delivering 220 hours of sessions, helping the participants develop their skills for the future.
