Bernardo gave the Blues the lead just past the half-hour mark with a deft chip, but the home side hit back within four minutes with Konstantinos Mavropanos heading home a corner.
On a night of almost total domination, the Hammers defended resolutely and the few clearcut chances that did come our way were repelled by an inspired Mads Hermansen in the West Ham goal.
