Manchester City’s charity, City in the Community, has released a new video to showcase its wide-ranging impact across Greater Manchester.

‘What City in the Community means to us’ puts the charity’s participants centre stage, showing how it supports thousands of lives across Greater Manchester in different ways.

The new video has been launched as part of City in the Community’s new strategy and aims to highlight how the charity ‘empowers healthier lives through football’.

Participants in the video range from two-year-olds on the City Play Together programme, to Anne and Arthur who take part in Reminiscity, which supports people living with dementia.

‘What City in the Community means to us’ has been released one week after the announcement of the Club’s new Christmas campaign; A Time for Giving.

‘A Time For Giving’ will provide fans with an opportunity to come together with the Club to fund thousands of hours of free football supporting the health of young people in Manchester throughout 2023.

For every purchase a fan makes from a range of selected Christmas retail clothing items, available online and in the City Store, the Club will donate £5 to its charity, City in the Community (registered charity no. 1139229).

Fans can also make additional donations at the tills in the stadium store, when checking out online during their purchase journey for match tickets, and via mancity.com/CITC.

Manchester City will match these donations to increase the overall funds for City in the Community football programmes, up to the value of £75,000, including £5 donated for each sale of selected Christmas retail clothing items*.

A £5 donation which is then matched by Manchester City, during November and December, will enable a young person to enjoy four hours of free football and a healthy lunch in the school holidays in 2023.

Communications Manager for City in the Community, Rachel Cummins, said: “We are delighted to have released a new video which, for the first time, encapsulates City in the Community’s mission to empower healthier lives through football.

“The charity is proud to encourage physical and mental wellbeing within its projects, but our work goes much further than that – something which is showcased through the three new pillars: Healthy People, Healthy Futures and Healthy Communities.

“We hope that this new video will help fans to gain a holistic understanding of City in the Community’s wide reaching work, and that they will enjoy seeing our participants bring it to life.”

City in the Community moves with city youth to empower healthier lives through football. Supporting people across Greater Manchester since 1986, programmes place physical and mental wellbeing at their core, whilst also creating healthy futures and healthy communities.
