There’s a big presence of City players in England’s World Cup squad as they try to end 56 years of hurt.

Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Kyle Walker, John Stones and Kalvin Phillips are all in Qatar as they try to end that long wait for a trophy.

They all played their part last summer as Gareth Southgate took England to the European Championships but fell just short of success with defeat on penalties in the final to Roberto Mancini’s Italy.

This time they will hope to go one better and City’s stars will be desperate to make their impact in the knockout stages.

Grealish and Foden were both on target in the group stages as England progressed as one of only three countries to remain  unbeaten in the tournament.

At the back, Stones has been solid in defence while Walker made his first start against Wales after recovering from injury while Phillips also got his first minutes for England following a shoulder operation.

Foden, Grealish, Walker and Stones have all been major contributors to our recent success while Phillips will be keen to make his mark following his move to the Etihad Stadium in the summer.
