Water Heroes Academy is back, and we’re asking you, our fans, to vote for the project that inspires you the most, rewarding them with a special Manchester City visit to their project!
From 3-17 November, we are shining a light on five football and water projects from our Xylem Water Heroes Academy network, spotlighting inspiring Cityzens Giving young leaders in Bangalore, Barranquilla, Nairobi, Tacloban City and Washington D.C.
The project that receives the most votes will win a special Manchester City visit to their project, including a visit from a Club Legend and additional training from Manchester City coaches in the Football and Water Education curriculum.
Vote now for your Water Heroes
Launched in 2021, Water Heroes Academy is a joint initiative by Manchester City’s global community programme, Cityzens Giving, and Global Water Technology Partner, Xylem, empowering young leaders to tackle water challenges in their communities using the power of football.
Around the world, young leaders are using football to provide essential education on water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) to their local communities in creative ways.
Earlier this year, Man City and Xylem launched the WASH football series to share these football and water education sessions with community football coaches globally.
Each of the Water Heroes Academy projects receives seed funding, educational tools, training and mentoring from Xylem and Cityzens Giving, giving young leaders all they need to create their own unique programmes.
From promoting responsible water usage in Barranquilla, to tackling period inequality in Nairobi, to improving access to safe water in Tacloban City and Bangalore, to fighting urban water pollution in Washington D.C., young leaders are stepping up to make a positive difference.
Tom Pitchon, Director of City Football Group’s global foundation said: “The Water Heroes Academy campaign is a brilliant way to spotlight the inspiring work of our Young Leaders, who are using football to educate communities on local water issues around the world.
“Whilst this is a fantastic opportunity for one project to receive a special Club visit, we are proud of all the projects within the network who continue to make such an important impact through our work with Xylem. Vote now for the one that inspires you the most.”
Fiona Cole, Head of Global Brand and Partnerships at Xylem, said, “Promoting water education and responsible usage is fundamental to the sustainability of society and our planet, and is the responsibility of everyone.
“By connecting the shared passions and needs around football and water with young people, we are committed to empower change-makers to come together and take practical and achievable positive action around water. The Young Leaders within the Water Heroes
“Academy are an example of how we can all take small actions that add up to big changes and we are excited to see which project Manchester City fans across the world choose to vote for.”
