Following on from Learning Mancunian with Zaba in Buenos Aires, the City legend swapped his football boots for dancing shoes as he set about learning to dance the Jarabe Tapatío. Joined by a local Mariachi band for the occasion, Zaba was a natural as he followed the steps demonstrated by some of our inspiring Cityzens Giving Young Leaders.
Zabaleta and the Premier League trophy were visiting our Cityzens Giving project in El Coyolito to celebrate the expansion of Xylem Water Heroes Academy, a global initiative in ten cities using the power of football to tackle local water challenges.
The dancing was the perfect way to end an action-packed visit to Mexico, which included repainting a community pitch with members of the local OSC, delivering Young Leader Training with City in the Community coaches and engaging project participants in community football festivals.
Reflecting on his visit, Zabaleta said: “Meeting the Young Leaders in Mexico City was an amazing experience.
“The way they are using football to teach children about the importance of water is creative and inspiring, and it’s great to see this unique initiative from Cityzens Giving and Xylem expanding to more cities.
“The Young Leaders are so engaged with supporting their community and to be able to contribute in a small way was a privilege.”
