Zack Steffen says he has improved significantly during his one season in Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City squad.

And the US National Team goalkeeper attributes much of that to the work of City goalkeeping coach Xabi Mancisidor, who he believes is the best he’s ever worked with.

The 26-year-old signed a contract extension on Thursday, taking his deal to the summer of 2025.

Last season he played 12 times for City, which included starts in every round of both domestic cup competitions.

He led City to Carabao Cup success, as well as the last four of the FA Cup.

He says he is delighted with the progress he made and hailed the impact of Mancisidor.

“It was a good first year,” he told mancity.com. “I definitely grew from the first day, first training and first game to the last day of the season.

“It gave me a lot confidence coming into this year knowing I can play at this level and they are happy with me. It made me want to strive for bigger and better goals.

“[Mancisidor] is by far the best coach I’ve ever worked with.

“He’s so detailed and looks at everything. I can definitely attest that. I’ve gotten a lot better since working with him.”
