New City signing Abby Dahlkemper says she has been inspired by the success Sam Mewis and Rose Lavelle have enjoyed at the Club.

Following in the footsteps of her compatriots, World Cup winner Dahlkemper becomes the latest United States star to make the move to Manchester this season, putting pen to paper on a two-and-a-half-year deal.

Mewis and Lavelle have relished their time in sky blue and lifted their first piece of English silverware in November with Women’s FA Cup glory at Wembley, in which Mewis opened the scoring.

Discussing her move, defender Dahlkemper says she was excited to hear her teammates’ stories of City life, which helped to aided her decision her to join them in Manchester.

“It definitely helps, being able to talk with them about their experience,” she told ManCity.com.

“They have said nothing but good things about the Club and the league in general, and they are able to play in the Champions League

“It’s helped a lot, hearing from them and hearing their personal experiences like the quality of the facilities, staff, team and players.

“Having them experience more technical and tactical challenges is something that’s really appealing to me. I know I’ll be out of my comfort zone, which will help me to grow.

“It’s exciting for me. They definitely helped in my decision and I’m really excited to get over there and help the team in any way I can.”
