The Australia international made her first Barclays Women’s Super League start of the season in our 1-0 victory over West Ham United – producing a player of the match performance.
While the centre-back was marshalling our backline expertly at the Chigwell Construction Stadium, a slick move from the visitors won the tie on a cold night in Dagenham.
Yui Hasegawa and Deyna Castellanos combined expertly in the middle of the park before the latter slid Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw into the box – netting her ninth league goal of the season.
The success represented our 11th consecutive game without loss, stretching back to October’s 4-0 victory over Leicester.
And the 27-year-old hailed Gareth Taylor‘s side’s strength in depth in each department.
“We have so much quality across the pitch and obviously higher up, the creativity of the players up top was brilliant,” she said.
“So it was good to see them linking up and combining to get a goal for us and ultimately winning us the game.
“I think [it’s a significant victory]. I think [the draw between Arsenal and Chelsea] went in our favour and for us.
“It’s great it happened but I think the focus is on what we can do and focussing on each game and what we can take it as it comes.
“Hopefully we can do the same again next week.
“[Everyone’s] feeling really good. The group we have here is honestly a privilege to be a part of.
“The togetherness is brilliant, I think no matter whether you’re playing, or you don’t, everyone is playing a role.
“I think we’re all set and we’ll put this one to bed and our sights are set on Leicester and hopefully again we can do a good job against them.”
