In what was our first home match of the Barclays Women’s Super League season in 2025/26, the Blues found ourselves a goal down at half-time to the Seagulls after Fran Kirby broke the deadlock.
However, goals from Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw and Yui Hasegawa after the interval sealed our first win of the campaign as we came from a goal down to seal three points.
MATCH REPORT: CITY 2-1 BRIGHTON
And our head coach declared his pride in our patience during the success.
“It’s always special to play at home, the first game [at the Joie Stadium],” he said.
“[Being] one goal down, but I’m proud of the players’ patience during the whole game, even if you’re one goal down, we keep on going.
“We created a lot of scoring chances in the game in general and we finally scored the two goals and it got us the win.
“I think it’s a crucial thing for the team to [have]. We will always have parts of the game where the opponent is a little bit better than you or they’re scoring.
“But just having that [belief] and making that time as short as possible and when this is not going your way, keep doing the things we’re good at.
“I think we did that in the second half.”
