City begin our 2025/26 league campaign with a trip to title holders Chelsea on Friday 5 September. Kick-off at Stamford Bridge is scheduled for 19:30 (UK).
It will be a debut WSL test for our new Head Coach, who is leading a team in the English top-flight for the first time.
MATCH PREVIEW | CHELSEA V CITY
With the new season about to open it’s curtains, the City boss laid out what to expect from the Blues under his guidance at his pre-match press conference.
“I think one of the key things here is how do we win the ball high up, because that’s something we’ve talked about,” he said.
“They had it last year but we’re trying to put more energy into it. This intensity to win it back and how can we win it in an early phase higher up.
“The other thing is to keep on having this Manchester City mentality of possession football but also when we have the possibility to punish the opposition, to just out wide but we have central players with quality.
“I hope we can be dynamic with how we create scoring chances. That’s some of the things we’ve put attention to over the past few weeks.”
