The City Head Coach addressed the media on Monday afternoon to preview our Subway League Cup group game against Everton.
But before answering questions about our game at the Joie Stadium, which will commence at 19:00 (UK) on Wednesday 24 September, Jeglertz took time to send his condolences to Matt Beard’s family.
MATCH PREVIEW | CITY V EVERTON
The former Liverpool coach passed away on Saturday, with the football world paying tribute to an fantastic manager and person.
He enjoyed stints at Millwall Lionesses, Chelsea, Boston Breakers, West Ham, Bristol City and Burnley but is perhaps most associated with Liverpool, where he won back-to-back WSL title in 2013 and 2014 and WSL 2 promotion in 2022.
Beard was valued amongst everyone within the sport and had a positive impact on not just the players he coached, but also on his peers around him. His significant contribution to the growth of women’s football has not gone unnoticed, and he is a figure that will be sorely missed.
“I just want to start with sending my condolences to the family of Beard and my thoughts are definitely with them. I wanted to start with that,” he said.
“It’s a small football world and I met him a couple times. I had players [who previously played] in his club and I know he was appreciated for the job he did. It’s tough, it’s a tough time to go through these things.”
