The exciting forward has been selected in Japan’s squad, alongside City team-mates Yui Hasegawa and Ayaka Yamashita, for the tournament hosted in Australia.
It follows her fantastic form for Andrée Jeglertz’s side in 2025/26 so far, where she has scored six goals and registered two assists.
After representing her nation at the 2023 World Cup, the 2024 Olympic Games and the 2025 SheBelieves Cup, this year’s Asian Cup will be the first time she is involved in the competition.
And Fujino is relishing the upcoming challenge, but she’s aiming to repay the work of her team-mates and City’s medical staff who helped her overcome an injury at the start of the year.
“It’s my first tournament, so the atmosphere and all that as well I do feel excited,” she declared.
“But at the same time, it’s an important tournament that leads to the World Cup, so I hope I can give everything I have back to the team as much as possible.
“Because it’s my first tournament, I feel excited, but it’s also an important tournament that leads to the World Cup, so I feel focused.
“I wanted to heal as quickly as possible [from my injury] because I really wanted to get back to the team, so in terms of the timing leading into the Asian Cup, I think people may see it that way.
“But, with the support from City’s rehab trainers and staff, I’ve been able to get back to a condition where I can play like this, so from here I hope I can gradually connect this to the Asian Cup and what comes after.”
