The decorated Japanese goalkeeper has signed a three-year deal at the Joie Stadium, keeping her at the Club until the summer of 2027.
Ahead of her switch to the Barclays Women’s Super League, she featured for NTV Tokyo Verdy Beleza and INAC Kobe Leonessa – playing with Hasegawa for six years at the former.
The combative midfielder has cemented her status as one of world football’s finest operators since her move to Gareth Taylor’s side in the summer of 2022 – playing 57 matches since her switch from West Ham.
And Yamashita is delighted to call Hasegawa a team-mate once again.
“During my time at Beleza, I used to play with Yui Hasegawa, who is here now, so she is very encouraging,” she explained.
“I’m really looking forward to playing with her again.
“Yui’s position is as an anchor, right in the centre of the team. For possession football, her abilities are absolutely necessary.
“I always make sure to look at her positioning when I receive the ball. I think she is a crucial player for winning titles.”
