Khadija 'Bunny' Shaw has heaped praise on City's professional performance after booking our spot in the FA Cup semi-finals.

The Jamaican opened the scoring for the Blues at the Joie Stadium, with Jess Park then doubling the advantage soon after.

Latching on to Mary Fowler’s pass in behind the Villa defence, Shaw took her time before confidently slotting under Sabrina D’Angelo for her second goal in as many games.

But while the forward was delighted to get on the scoresheet again, she insists the key objective was simply to ensure our name was in the hat for the semi-finals.

Speaking about the win, she said: “It was important. We spoke as a team about just getting the result and moving into the next round. We ultimately got the job done so it was a good day.

CITY 2-0 ASTON VILLA: MATCH REPORT

“We spoke at half-time about trying to get an early goal and see how the rest of the game set up. It was a really good ball from Mary and something we’d been practicing on that and it finally came together.

“We felt if we could get them on the back foot, we could exploit them and it worked.

“As the ball came in I saw where the ‘keeper was and she gave me the time to take the touch.

“I knew she was going to spread so I thought to put it hard and low between the legs, and it worked.”
