The 2019/20 competition was rescheduled for the initial part of the 2020/21 campaign due to COVID-19 and the midfielder also feels being in the hunt for a trophy so early on can positively impact City’s fortunes for the remainder of the season.
“We want to retain it,” she said.
“It feels like a long time ago, last year at Wembley. It was a really special day. It was definitely a highlight for us all. We want to be back there. We want to win it.
“It’s a huge trophy and to be in contention for a trophy so early on in the season is obviously a huge thing and it’s really given us a lot of confidence going forward into the next part of the season.”
City face Arsenal at the Academy Stadium on Thursday 1 October, with kick-off at 19:15 (UK). In the UK, the game will be shown live on BBC 2.
