In what was the first meeting between the sides in 2024/25, the hosts snatched a 2-0 win with both goals arriving in the final 15 minutes of the closely contested clash.
The first half at Stamford Bridge ended goalless with chances at a premium – but the hosts’ Maika Hamano came close when firing over the bar before Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw drilled wide from an acute angle ahead of the interval.
However, Chelsea emerged from the break the brighter team but Gareth Taylor’s side did well to nullify their threat for the majority of the second 45.
The first goal would then be crucial if either side could find it - and it arrived for Sonia Bompastor’s side when Mayra Ramirez drove to the edge of the area and unleashed an unstoppable drive into the bottom corner.
Buoyed by their first, Chelsea doubled their advantage soon after when the ball ricocheted inside our box from a corner before being swept out to Reiten who curled home from the right corner of the area.
The defeat represented our first of the term and ended our 12-game unbeaten start to the season.
