At the match, CITC participants from the City Girls programme were provided with an unforgettable day full of special moments.
As well as being provided with a ticket for the match, selected participants were offered the chance to be a part of the team photo with the starting XI ahead of kick off.
During the build-up to the match, a recent video was shown which features City player Lauren Hemp sharing positive messages with City Girls participants after they created mood boards, poems, and pieces of work for International Women’s Day.
In addition to this, Head of Operations for CITC, Lisa McKay, spoke to Natalie Pike ahead of kick-off about a number of topics including the empowerment of young women and girls in Greater Manchester through the charity’s work.
Commenting on the support that City in the Community offers, Lisa said: “We have so much that we have to offer different age groups of women and girls across Manchester.
“We’re here to really empower them to have a level playing field out there, to give them confidence and self-esteem, to take part, have fun, socialise, and meet new people.
“We work with 18,000 people across Manchester, over 50% of those are females. We’re getting there slowly but surely, we’re winning the race, flying the flag high for women and girls in Manchester.”
Lisa also spoke about how CITC support the local community on the importance of mental health, adding: “We have a whole department delivering mental health and wellbeing support across Manchester.
“We’re delivering this in primary schools, high schools to the different children there. But we also look after the adults out there in our communities, we’ve set up some really great sessions alongside Feel Good Club.
“So really great achievements and some great work taking place in the mental health space.”
