Demi Stokes says she’s proud of the role she’s played in helping the Club develop over the past nine years.

The defender announced that she would be leaving Manchester City following our final Barclays Women’s Super League match of the season against Aston Villa.

One of only three players to make over 200 appearances for City, Stokes moved to the Joie Stadium in 2015 and has played a vital role in our year-on-year progression on and off the pitch.

It’s a legacy that she takes immense pride in as she prepares for the next chapter in her career.

FOUR CITY PLAYERS TO DEPART CLUB

“I’m really proud,” the defender reflected when asked about her achievements at the Club.

“When I sit back and go ‘nine years’, it’s gone by fast.

“I’m so proud, I was thinking the other day when I first came here and when I started out, there was a mud patch and a helmet. I was so excited to be a part of what City had planned.

“I think we’ve developed and elevated in all aspects, I’m just proud to have been a part of that.

“I think it’s incredible how fast it’s moved. We want to keep pushing, the game now’s in a good place but we want to keep pushing, we aren’t satisfied.

“I’m just so proud and feel humbled that I’ve been able to contribute to that.

“The new facility as well, we’re elevating and trying to push for what we deserve.”
