Although located down in Wimbledon, the game was played in front of a sell-out crowd with a vocal and passionate City contingent in attendance to cheer Gareth Taylor‘s side on to a 3-1 victory - our fourth Conti Cup success.
Scoring City’s second goal of the night in front of our jubilant supporters to turn the game on its head after Caroline Weir had cancelled out Sam Kerr’s opener, the celebrations said it all and White was delighted to have rewarded their unwavering loyalty with silverware.
“It’s amazing,” she told mancity.com. “What a turnaround from the first half!
“I’m super proud of everyone and the fans are amazing. We’re delighted.
“We all knew that we needed to be better and we just turned it around. Credit to all the players - we dug in deep and we got the first one, then the second came and the third!
“Caroline Weir‘s pretty good, isn’t she?! The whole team were so good and I thought in the last 15, 20 minutes, we were really great as well.
“Scoring for City in front of the fans is always a dream for me and to help the team to win.
“The fans were massive. They were so loud. We wanted to do it for them, make them proud and do it for this Club and our family and friends.
“We’ve worked really hard for this. We’re so pleased the fans turned out for us and really honoured they’re here.”
