The City striker leapfrogged Kelly Smith in the Lionesses’ all-time scoring charts, bagging a hat-trick against Latvia to net her 48th goal for her country, as Sarina Wiegman’s side netted an astonishing 20 goals.
Reflecting on the achievement, the 32-year-old expressed her sincere pride but ever humble, credited her teammates, including Lauren Hemp who scored her first goals for her country with a four-goal haul!
“It feels very nice!” she smiled in a post-match press conference alongside Lionesses manager Sarina Wiegman. “I don’t know if you could see it but it was very emotional.
“I feel really lucky that my teammates were there to celebrate with me. I’m not going to lie and say it wasn’t emotional - it’s been spoke about so much, so I feel really lucky that I can just concentrate on the team and enjoy playing for England.
“I feel very proud to represent my country and score goals but for me, it was all about the team. I don’t know if you could see my face when Alessia Russo and Lauren Hemp scored - we have incredibly talented players coming through and I’m very proud.
“They know how much it means to me, how much I love playing for England. It’s a dream to be playing alongside supremely talented players.
“It feels amazing. To have the support of your teammates and respect is number one. The talent and support, togetherness and love we have for each other... I know it sounds corny but it’s really special and I’m lucky to have the teammates that I do.
“I feel really lucky. I know a few of them said they’d celebrated crazily! I feel very lucky to be a part of this team surrounded by coaching staff.
“We keep going up. Hopefully, I’ll be selected again for England, trying to do whatever I can do for this team, scoring goals.
“I’m not stopping now! I love playing for England. Hopefully, we can do something special together.”
