Gareth Taylor‘s side came from behind to book our place in the Women’s FA Cup quarter-finals with a stunning second half display, in which the visitors bagged four goals to put Manchester United to the sword.
White was on the scoresheet for the third time at Leigh Sports Village, turning the tie on its head with a well-taken effort, as she latched onto Hannah Blundell’s misplaced backpass, rounded Mary Earps and coolly slotted home.
Naturally, the England striker was delighted to find the net and help her side to the next round, praising her teammates’ character, drive and determination.
“It felt amazing,” she told mancity.com. “We were a little disappointed with the first half, conceding, but we really showed our character, determination, and want and will to win in the second half.
“We completely dominated and we scored four great goals. I’m really proud of the whole squad.
“We knew what we needed to change - the intensity, the press, being more clinical and our general build-up. We were delighted to come out and score quickly, which set the tone for the second half.
“Obviously, I’m always delighted to contribute and score in a Derby, and in the FA Cup, but I’m really pleased for the whole squad.
“The subs came on and really made the difference and collectively, how passionate everyone was on that bench was amazing to see.
“We wanted to be in the hat for the next round and we showed that in the second half.”
