Gareth Taylor secured passage into Round Five of the historic competition with a 3-0 win over the Tractor Girls thanks to goals from Jill Roord, Laura Coombs and Vivianne Miedema.
Although the Blues enjoyed plenty of possession in the opening exchanges, the opener we craved proved elusive against the side sat at the top of Women’s Premier Division South.
That was until Rebecca Knaak, on debut, made a great tackle on the centre circle before teeing up Roord who rifled an effort low into the bottom corner to break the deadlock.
The Netherland’s international’s strike represented the first half’s only goal before Laura Coombs doubled our advantage with her first of the season.
Having seen her initial effort crash off the top of the crossbar, she showed her poacher’s instinct to volley home after the ball looped back into the six-yard box.
Miedema then gave us further reason to celebrate when she made her return from an injury which had kept her absent since October.
And she marked the occasion with a goal when she collected the ball and drilled low into the net.
