Gareth Taylor says City must fight to make their own luck, as we bid to improve our fortunes in the 2021/22 season.

City have suffered a difficult start to the campaign - hampered by a challenging pre-season, injuries and controversial decisions - and head into Saturday’s FA Women’s Super League visit of Aston Villa on the back of successive defeats against Chelsea and Manchester United.

While the Head Coach admitted his side have not had the rub of the green in some games, he asserts the squad must not rely on luck to improve the situation and must take ownership to rectify the situation.

“It’s not about waiting for it,” he said, previewing this weekend’s clash.

“I think we are due some decisions going our way but we are not waiting on that. We have to work on making our own luck.

“I would be nice to get a few decisions for a change but are working to take that element out of it by doing things for ourselves.

“We’re dealing with the pressure. It’s a tough situation we are in at the moment. The response from the players and staff has been great. It’s not a nice situation to be in but we are working tremendously hard and it’s great to see.

“We’re focusing on the positives. Apart from a couple of games, there have been some real positives. Even in some of our disappointing results, we have performed really well, created opportunities and been unfortunate in not converting them.

“We have made some errors as well but I think it is about highlighting the positives. We always go out to win the game. It is about pushing the positive things we are doing.”
