Gareth Taylor insists his players’ focus is on the next game after City drew level with Chelsea at the top of the Barclays Women’s Super League.

A 4-1 win at Brighton saw us keep pace with the league leaders and record a tenth successive league victory in the process.

With just six matches remaining of the campaign, only goal difference separates the top two, and goals from Lauren Hemp, Mary Fowler, Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw and Laura Coombs helped maintain City’s momentum at a crucial stage in the season.

It could turn out to be a memorable campaign for Taylor’s side, but the boss insists the squad are simply looking at each fixture as it comes.

He said: “It’s just one game at a time. It’s great to be at the top.

“We were top at the start of the season then all of a sudden within a couple of games we’re six behind. We’ve clawed that back and now we’re level.

“It’s great credit to the team, and now it’s just about one down and six to go for us.

“It was a good win for us and a good performance. I thought we built up really well and the player executed the game plan really well.”
