Gareth Taylor has insisted Bunny Shaw's contribution to City is about ‘more than just goals’ ahead of Sunday’s Barclays Women’s Super League meeting with Brighton.

Our striker’s 24-goal haul so far in 2022/23 means she needs just one more strike to break the individual record for the most goals for our women’s side in a single season.

The Jamaican international will be hoping to enter the record books during this weekend’s trip to the Broadfield Stadium.

Ahead of that clash, Taylor praised the league’s leading scorer and highlighted her key attributes.

“What Bunny brings is different to what we have seen before,” he said.

“Bunny is able to hold the ball up, score all types of goals, work the opposition really well and has a big physical presence.

“She is proven but is playing for one of the smaller nations so the responsibility is quite high similar to Deyna with Venezuela.

“We saw good things from Bunny last season and was top scorer in the French league in an unfashionable team. It’s shown from the first game to where we are now, there is normally a lull. She hasn’t had one.

“She is aware of the role the team has played in that. Bunny is more than goals for us, the way she leads the line and is contributing. Her assists are high as well.”
