With seven league assignments remaining, starting with Sunday 17 March’s trip to Brighton, the Blues are embroiled in a fierce title race with only goal difference keeping us off the division’s summit.
Ahead of locking horns with Mikey Harris’ side at Broadfield Stadium, we are currently enjoying a strong nine match winning top-flight streak.
However, City enter the clash with the Seagulls looking to bounce back after losing to Chelsea (Continental Cup) and Spurs (FA Cup) in our previous two outings.
Regardless of the disappointment of exiting both cup competitions, the boss is expecting to see a characteristic reaction from his players as we pursue a second WSL crown.
“We’re obviously a little disappointed where we ended up with the previous two games,” he explained.
“Parts of the performance were really good against Chelsea. But we need to be really clinical at the top end of the pitch and finish those chances off.
“We could probably say the same about Spurs. For a period of the game where we started well. We need to really need to kill the game off.
“But we never really created probably as good as chances or some of the opportunities did against Chelsea.
“When you keep the door open a little bit like that [you can be punished]. We were unfortunate that it went to the last second [against Spurs].
“But in general, the signs have been really good. As much as it has been tough to take for us over the last four days after the two cup competitions which we had with opportunities in has been really tough.
“This group fights back and works really well. We remain consistent in how we work and we have a good opportunity in the final seven games to do many things.”
