Gareth Taylor praised his players’ ability to band together and grind out a 1-1 draw against Chelsea, despite being reduced to nine players.

Chloe Kelly’s early strike looked to have earned all three points for a City side who had seen Alex Greenwood and Lauren Hemp both dismissed for second bookable offences.

Guro Reiten’s 96th-minute equaliser would mean we were forced to settle for a share of the spoils, but the boss was full of praise for his side’s character despite the late setback.

Indeed, he believes that collective mentality will serve City well in our pursuit of silverware this season.

“It showed everything, in that performance,” the boss reflected after the final whistle.

“If you know you’ve be giving up possession, chasing lost causes and defending long balls… I’m super proud of the players and the way they showed togetherness.

“The way they stuck together, we use that this season and we’ll be really good.”
