Gareth Taylor believes that Chloe Kelly is getting back to her absolute best after finding her rhythm following her serious knee injury.

During the international break, the winger scored twice for England as they retained the Arnold Clark Cup with a 6-1 win over Belgium.

And that came after an impressive performance against rivals Arsenal when she scored and assisted in the 2-1 victory at the Academy Stadium.

Speaking ahead of the FA Cup fifth round trip to Bristol City on Sunday, Taylor said she needed a run of games after such a long absence.

“Obviously she had a horrific injury and an amazing moment in the summer,” he said. “It took some time and she needed a run of games which is difficult because she was, and still is, competing with Hayley [Raso].

“Now we’re starting to see really the best of Chloe. She looks confident. She’s trying things, some are coming off and some things aren’t and she looks like a real threat.

“Where we left off against Arsenal before the international break, Chloe and Lauren [Hemp] were the two of the game winners for us. Not just because of the goals, there all-round aggressiveness, with and without the ball.”

Taylor also said that Kelly contribution is not measured in goals and assists and that she has always worked hard for the team.

“Chloe is really humble,” he added. “She’s really appreciative of the people around her that help her to be the very best version of herself.

“I remembered being asked five or six weeks ago about Chloe not scoring and it’s not an issue for me. If Bunny’s not scored for four or fives, it hasn’t happened, but it’s not a problem for me.

“How are they contributing to the team? We’re in a team game. We’re not relying on one player.

“Chloe will be enjoying the good moments and she needs to enjoy the bad moments as well and she’s had a few of those as well as the highs but that’s the life of a professional footballer unfortunately.”
