Gareth Taylor says Lauren Hemp is a joy to work with as he declared the modest winger doesn’t realise just how good a player she is.

The 21-year-old has proven herself to be one of the most exciting prospects in the country during her three years at Manchester City, where she has become one of Gareth Taylor’s side’s most potent attacking weapons.

The City boss holds Hemp in the highest regard, and says her ability, combined with a desire to improve mean she is a dream player for a coach to work with.

“She’s amazing, you couldn’t ask to work with a better young player” he said at his pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday’s FA Women’s Super League game against defending champions, Chelsea.

“As well as being an obvious talent she’s incredibly easy to coach and wants to get better.

“She probably doesn’t realise how good she is and that’s a great quality to have. Part of our job is to say you’re very good.

“She’s a big part of what we want to achieve here and working with her is a dream. We’ve seen big strides with her and a number of young players.

“Lauren’s great, she’s in a good place and is enjoying her football.”

Taylor also discussed Caroline Weir’s influence and the importance of Women’s Football Weekend at his pre-match media briefing.
