Gareth Taylor says City have regrouped and are ready to bounce back from Wednesday night's Champions League setback with full focus on domestic success.

City exited the Champions League in disappointing fashion, falling to a 2-1 aggregate to European debutants Real Madrid in Round Two.

There has been little time for the squad to dwell with Sunday’s FA Women’s Super League visit of Tottenham Hotspur to the Academy Stadium and Taylor asserts that having come together in the past few days, the players and staff have refocused and are eager to return to winning ways at the first attempt.

“Today we’re a lot better,” he said. “We got the emotion out a bit yesterday and we’ve recovered.

“We had a good training session and we’re focusing on the other domestic trophies. It’s a positive and gives us a good understanding of where we’re at and what we can achieve.

“Everyone’s been really good. We spoke afterwards - more from myself. When I addressed the press on Wednesday night, I said: it was probably very hard for players to take in the comments I was making.

“We made a good start in the WSL and are looking to continue that this Sunday.”
