Gareth Taylor says being given time to implement your footballing vision is crucial for a manager to bring success.

The boss has agreed a one-year contract extension at City, keeping him at the Academy Stadium until the summer of 2024.

It will see the former Wales international enter his fourth year at the helm, while also following key figures in his squad, Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw and Steph Houghton, in sealing fresh terms following the conclusion of 2022/23.

Throughout his three-season stay so far, Taylor possesses a mightily impressive win ratio of 72% across 109 games – tallying 79 victories – and has led us to two major honours.

For the boss, continuity has been essential to that success on and off the pitch.

“I’m really happy to be able to commit to the Club for another season, which is a season I’m really going to be excited about,” he reflected.

“I think [continuity] is something that most head coaches will talk about being really important for success.

“It’s no secret that most successful head coaches or organisations that you’ve seen have had continuity and I think working with the same coach, working with the same players - there will always be comings and goings there is no doubt about that, that’s constant evolution.

“But I think most of the success you’ve seen from top head coaches is where they’ve been given a sustained period of time.”
