Gareth Taylor believes Manchester City’s positive performances to start the 2023/24 season have shown the team are hitting new levels this season.

We began our Continental Cup campaign with a deserved 2-1 victory over Everton, with goals from Jess Park and Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw enough to earn the win on Merseyside.

The boss made nine changes from the side who drew 1-1 with Chelsea at the weekend, despite seeing Alex Greenwood and Lauren Hemp sent off at the Joie Stadium.

And another strong showing on Wednesday evening reinforced the boss’ feeling that his side are improving every week.

“We have really good strength in depth and competition for places,” Taylor reflected after our win at Walton Hall Park.

“I think the performances over the three games have all given us different things. I’ve been really impressed with West Ham, Chelsea and tonight.

“The signs are there that this team is really coming together and playing with a real identity.

“They know each other really well now, they know me and vice versa. It bodes well for the future.”
