Gareth Taylor expects Everton to prove a tough opponent in Saturday’s Barclays Women’s Super League clash.

We welcome the Toffees to the Joie Stadium at 12:00 (UK) on 2 March, knowing victory will take us top of the table until Sunday at the very least.

In the reverse fixture in December, a Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw hat-trick and Jill Roord strike helped us to a fine 4-1 win at Walton Hall Park.

City v Everton | Match preview

Taylor’s side are in exceptional form, winning our last 11 matches across all competitions.

Our visitors sit ninth with 14 points from 14 games, but Taylor isn’t resting on his laurels and is again demanding the best from his players.

“Of course they’ve had some recent success against West Ham but Leicester didn’t go their way,” he said.

“Obviously they’re more familiar now with what Brian is trying to do. He’s lost a few players here and there and recruited some players. It takes time to get your messages across. They’re a team who have capabilities of causing problems.

“We need to be aware of that and I have made my players aware and will continue to do that in the next 24 hours. It’s about what we do and we are in a good vein of form but we need to perform well and look after the ball well.

“We need to make them defend in every opportunity and be assertive without the ball. We’ve seen good signs recently as much as we are delighted.”
