Gareth Taylor says drawing a home tie against Chelsea gives the team a real boost for FA Cup semi-finals.

Following on from our 6-0 victory against Leicester in the quarter-final, Taylor explained that victory was essential to boost the squad’s confidence after a difficult run of results.

Commending Jill Scott, Bunny Shaw and Filippa Angeldahl amongst others, Taylor was impressed with the team’s ability to adapt and gel amidst injury crisis.

Speaking to mancity.com after the game, the manager also explained that a semi-final on home soil could be just the boost that City need to secure their spot in the final and to kick on.

“I think it was much needed just for confidence, we’ve showed flashes this season with a really good performance at Everton and we’ve had some disappointments as well but I can really see that the team is trying to gel,” he said.

“I thought we saw a bit of a contrast in the second half, and I challenged the players at half-time I said: ‘Come on play a little bit more exciting football.’

“We didn’t have many options and we tried to protect players towards the end. It was good that the new players have bed in quite well so far.

“I’m really pleased to get a home advantage, it’s time we had a bit of good fortune or something to go for.

“It was great tonight. Everyone was here supporting the team and it’ll be great when we get some players back.”

City will play Chelsea in the semi-final on Sunday 31 October against Chelsea. Fixture information and ticket details will be confirmed.
