Gareth Taylor says the prospect of a home tie in the Continental Cup quarter-final is an extra incentive for Manchester City ahead of our final group stage game against Leicester City

With the draw for the last eight already having taken place, City know we will face Bristol City at the Academy Stadium if we can beat the Foxes on Thursday evening in a game which was originally scheduled for 15 December until COVID-19 cases led to its rearrangement.

City, Leicester and Charlton Athletic can all still qualify for the quarter-final and, whilst Taylor admits a home tie is something to relish, he says he side will be taking nothing for granted in what he expects to be a difficult test at the Pirelli Stadium.

“Yeah, of course [it’s an incentive],” he said ahead of City’s game against Leicester.

“It’s set up really nicely for us but we’re under no illusions it’ll be a tough task to go to Burton tomorrow night and play against a team with nothing to lose.

“We need to make sure it’s all about us, really respect the opposition and make sure we do everything we can to progress into the knockout stage.”
