Gareth Taylor says City’s 2024/25 season starts in earnest in Australia this week.

Our boss has led a group of 23 players over to Perth for a two-match pre-season tour, where we will face Leicester City and either West Ham United or Paris Saint-Germin.

Almost a week into the trip, Taylor has been impressed with both the smooth running of training as well as the new addition to his backroom staff and players on the pitch.

Having finished the 2023/24 campaign back in May and first reported for pre-season last month, Taylor feels the time has been well spent plotting a successful year for his side.

“We’ve been able to run things as we would do if we were back in the CFA. It’s almost as if it’s just been moved and put in another country,” he said of City’s camp out in Perth.

“That allows us time to collaborate together as a team and staff and focus on our aims for the season. The journey starts here.

“The summer break has given us time to refresh a few things in terms of staff and personnel as well.

“We’ve managed to bring in Chad Gribble as a coach. He’s been great in terms of understanding what we’re trying to do and the football we’re trying to play.

“We’ve had numerous conversations. He’s really new to it, like some of the other players the first time we meet is at the airport, but there are really positive signs there.”
