“[Liverpool] never give you anything cheap and they keep going until the end,” the boss said.
“I have to say, I thought the way we handled the game tonight was spot on.
“We made quite a few changes, still had loads of experience and good players in there.
“I thought, in the second half especially, the way we controlled the game was spot and we scored two brilliant goals.”
“It’s a different type of competition, where you know you have to be effective in the group and go out and win games. You don’t play for draws.
“We knew tonight’s game was probably the one that decided the group so we still have a little bit of work to do, but we look forward to that.
“To come here and play the way we did and to get the result is great.”
