Gareth Taylor says he became a manager to be involved in games like Wednesday evening’s FA Women’s Super League clash with Chelsea.

Manchester City host Emma Hayes’ side at the Academy Stadium knowing victory would see us move into pole position in the race for the title with two games left to play.

Chelsea hold a two-point lead going into the game and Taylor admitted the magnitude of the game cannot be ignored but says these are the sort of occasions you relish as a player and manager.

“It is big,” he said at his pre-match press conference.

“These are the reasons why you coach and why you want to be a manager, for moments like this.

“I saw Pep’s comments at the weekend about big games. This is what we are in it for. It’s where we want to be.

“I think it is a great advert for the women’s game, two big clubs slugging it out. These are the moments we should cherish.

“We have got ourselves in a fantastic position and we want to finish it off.”
