Gareth Taylor says City are relishing the challenge of extending our unbeaten home record when we host Chelsea in the Barclays Women’s Super League this weekend.

We welcome Emma Hayes’ champions to the Joie Stadium on Sunday 8 October, with kick-off scheduled for 12:30 (UK).

It’s gearing up to be an enthralling affair with a sold-out crowd expected in Manchester.

Heading into the seismic meeting, we are currently enjoying a 14-game run without loss at home, which includes 12 wins stretching across the entirety of last season.

Among those victories are respective, impressive 2-1 wins over Arsenal and this weekend’s opponents from the term before.

And the boss explained how his side are full of confidence following our 2-0 opening 2023/24 day victory over West Ham last time out.

“Its important [to have good home form]. It’s your home ground, we really utilise the support and the fans are amazing,” he declared.

“They enjoy what we’ve tried to achieve. To go unbeaten like we did is no mean feat so to be able to do that and in an ever-increasing WSL standard is great.

“Every game is important. Our away form has been good over the last few years. It was a tough game last week but the performance was top drawer.

“Everyone contributed really well to a team performance.

“Nothing changes and if it goes and we lose a game here we move on to the next one.

“We created a good environment certainly in the support we get. In my time here as a coach the first season was lockdown, [in the] second the fans were slowly introduced.

“The Women’s game has gone strength to strength and major venues are now being used.

“Its great for us having that [home record]. We want the run to continue and we’re looking forward to the run going.

“We feel confident we can continue that run.”
